Convenience store employee facing theft charges for stealing lottery scratch tickets

..

Galesburg Police on Saturday responded to the Becks gas station on East Main Street for a report of a theft from a few days prior. Officers arrived and met with a store manager who said one of her employees was caught taking lottery scratch tickets while working their shift. The employee reportedly took approximately $310 worth of scratch-off tickets and did not pay for them. Officers then viewed a security video of the employee taking a variety of tickets and attempting to cash them out. The manager told police they agreed to let the 33-year-old male employee pay the store back, but a couple of days had passed, and they wished to pursue charges. Officers were unable to locate the male employee at any of his listed addresses. He was added to the GPD’s pending arrest list and is facing a charge of Theft with Intent to Deprive.
