William A. Martin, Sr., 70, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 11:49 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

He was born on February 22, 1953, in Denver, Co, the son of Albert L., Sr. and Pauline G. (Windsor) Martin.

Bill married Bessie A. Logsdon on July 6, 1973, in Monmouth, IL; she preceded him in death on November 24, 2010.

Bill worked hard for many years.  He worked at Malibu Steel & Foundry in Galesburg, IL.  He also worked as a farm hand for Kent Willis and sorted produce for Tony Campagna.  Bill worked many years helping his good friend Carl Wells install tanning beds in Galesburg.  Among those many jobs, Bill was best known for being a rural paper carrier for the Daily Review Atlas and Penny Saver.  He was a loving father to his children, Pamela and William, and adored his grandchildren.  Bill’s favorite things to do were mowing, hanging out with his grandchildren, fishing, cooking out, and driving around to visit with friends and family.

Surviving Bill are his children, Pammy Martin and William A. (LaceAnn) Martin, Jr. all of Monmouth, IL; five grandchildren, Milo Martin, Olivia Martin, Avigail Martin, Richard Martin, Theodore Martin all of Monmouth, IL; two brothers, Tony (Rosemary) Martin of Monmouth, IL, Mike Martin of Burlington, IA; three sisters, Margaret Martin and Amber Taylor both of Monmouth and Ruth Gonzalez of Galesburg, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bessie Martin; two sisters, Mary Smith, and Kathleen Martin; and two brothers, Albert Martin, Jr. and Francis Martin.

Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials can be made to the William Martin Memorial Fund for the care of his daughter Pammy and to assist his family.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
