James “J.D.” Daly, 67 of Galesburg, passed away at 10:28 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born February 17, 1956, in Galesburg, the son of Virgil and Audrey (Peterson) Daly. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Daly. “J.D” married Jean Phillips in 1977, in Galesburg, he later married Mary Patterson and they later divorced.
Surviving are his three daughters, Janice (Josh) Parrish of Monmouth, Illinois, Mandy (Marc) Bailey of Galesburg, Angie (Justin) Gray of Galesburg; his two brothers, Charles Daly of Glendale, Arizona, and John (Linda) Daly of Galesburg; his sister, Vicky Smith of Wataga, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Dakota (Alicia Pierce) Welsh, Devin (Heidi Davis) Welsh, Demi Welsh, Mariah Bailey, Mateo Bailey, Tim LaFollette, Xander (Josie) Gray and Taiven Gray; and six great-grandchildren, Braxton, Ava, Levi, Dallas, Liam Gray and Oliver Bailey and his special friend, Margaret Hagler of Henderson, Illinois.
JD grew up in Galesburg and attended Galesburg High School. He was a self-employed mechanic owning and operating, J.D.’s Auto shop. He also worked for Sue and Larry Shotts filling vending machines. JD was an avid Harley Davidson fan and often enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and attending races in Indy. J.D. was also a member of the Brain-Dead Canoe Club and often went water rafting in Branson.
JD was a registered organ donor with the State of Illinois. He was a generous donor of his corneas and his tissue through Gift of Hope.
Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 pm Monday, June 5, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
