Galesburg Council reinstates full-time city attorney position

Galesburg City Council on Monday made it official that they are looking to return to a full-time city attorney.

By a unanimous vote, the Council approved adding the position to the salary schedule while removing the position of Director of Public Works/Assistant City Manager and Assistant Director of Public Works.

The City has been contracting with the law firm Barash and Everett since the previous City Attorney Bradley Nolden resigned last September.

Barash and Everett Attorneys Paul Mangieri and Leslie Day gave notice to terminate the contract for the beginning of June but they’ve agreed to stay on with the city until a full-time attorney is found.

The pay range for the city attorney position will be listed at 32EX, the same range it was posted at when Nolden was hired in 2015.
