Police investigating recent vandalism at City parks

The Galesburg Police Department is investigating after a pair of City parks were vandalized. Officers met with Parks and Recreation employees yesterday who reported the merry-go-round at the Dale Kelley Tot Lot on West Tompkins Street suffered damage. Neighbors and postal employees first discovered the damage a few days prior to it being reported to police.

The value of the merry-go-round is approximately $500. Neighbors told police that kids have been riding go karts and dirt bikes in the area recently, but there are no suspects.

Police also responded to H.T. Custer Park after more vandalism was discovered. Someone dumped trash in the wading pool, and someone vandalized the restrooms with graffiti. The Galesburg Police remind residents that the parks are closed from sunset to sunrise.

Anyone with information about either incident can contact the Galesburg Police Department at 343-9151 or Galesburg Area Crime Stoppers at 344-0044.
