Patricia Ann Dawdy Godsil passed away on June 30, 2023, at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville. She was born on December 26, 1944, in Galesburg to William and Dorothy Churchill Dawdy.
She married Rodney Godsil on October 3, 1966, at St Mary’s Chapel in Knoxville. They were divorced in 1985, They had two daughters, Shawna Ann Garcia(Javier) and Lisa Noel Zimmerman(Ronald Dayne). There are four granddaughters, Erika Diaz, Olivia Diaz, Ana Garcia, and Tessa Zimmerman; and a great-granddaughter, Ruby Diaz. One sister, Janet Ritter, one nephew, and three nieces also survive her.
Pat attended Galesburg schools and graduated from GHS in 1963. After high school, she attended Brown’s Business College and, then, was employed in an office position at Burlington Truck Lines. In later years, Pat worked at Johnson Building System and retired from Heat and Control.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, and being with her children, grandchildren, and her cat, Grandpa.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her former husband, and two sisters, Marilyn Boone and C. Jo Blickem.
Graveside services will be at Knoxville Cemetery at 3 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2023. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
