Galesburg City Council on Monday can vote to approve members of a task force that will guide the development of a Galesburg community center.
15 members are up for consideration.
Mayoral Appointment – Darla Krejci
Ward 1 – Anthony Law III and David Hix
Ward 2 – Cassie Cirimotich and Connie Dennis
Ward 3 – Steve Albert and John Polillo
Ward 4 – Pastor Antonio Franklin Sr. and Del Tolliver
Ward 5 – Maria Salsman and Ted Hoffman
Ward 6 – Jaclyn Smith-Esters and Carl Dortch
Ward 7 – Adam Sampson and Grael Mula
Each Council member has submitted two names and Mayor Peter Schwartzman has advanced one.
This is what Council discussed at a June 26th work session, although they said if there are certain “categories” of task force members they would like but don’t have, that administration could make recommendations.
Parks and Recreation Director Elizabeth Varner says the task force will be charged with everything from finding a location, considering funding, and assisting in designing a community center.
This task force was proposed after a majority of the Council struck down Churchill Junior High as a possible site in May.
