Galesburg is now a little more caffeinated. A new Scooter’s Coffee drive-through opened Monday at 1317 N. Henderson St.
Brian Melvin, a district manager for Scooter’s, tells WGIL, “We’re excited and ready to go. We’ve been out in the public and Galesburg seems to be a ground town. Everyone seems excited to have us.”
Scooter’s, which last year opened a store in Monmouth, is open 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Approaching 500 locations in the U.S., Scooter’s Coffee serves customers from a 660 square foot drive-through kiosk. Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Scooter’s specializes in artisan espresso drinks, fruit smoothies, baked-from-scratch pastries and features its signature drink, the Caramelicious. The company also recently added depth to its profile with a line of organic hot and iced teas, single-origin coffee and Cold Brew & Cream.
“Our core values are what make us stand out,” Melvin said. “And we have amazing drinks, made by amazing people, making them amazingly fast. It’s all about speed, so hopefully by the time you order and get to the window, your order is ready.
Galesburg now has nine coffee shops or drive-throughs. With the addition of Scooter’s, there also are three Starbucks locations, along with locally-owned Innkeeper’s Fresh Roasted Coffee, two Orange Cup Java Station locations, The Beanhive and Dame Fine Coffee. Also, according to city of Galesburg Community Development, Dunkin’ still plans to open a Dunkin’ shop at 951 N. Henderson St.
