
Grab some food and take a tour of the local eateries with the return of the Taste of Galesburg this week.
The Taste returns to Galesburg’s downtown from 4 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27 for its 37th year where visitors can taste food from over 20 area restaurants.
Admission to the Taste is $5 but children under 12 are free. No pets are allowed.
Each restaurant has a menu and will serve you at its spot along Simmons Street. All food items are sold using tokens, which are sold for a dollar each and sold at four different locations during the event. They will only accept cash at the event no credit cards will be taken.
It’s not just the food you’ll want to come out for. There is plenty of entertainment as well. There will be free kids activities, including inflatables and face painting, and the Discovery Depot to be set up in the parking lot behind the Kensington.
There will be music in three different places. Pippi and Daniel will be playing east of the Kensington from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Bits and Pieces will be playing on Simmons Street down by the beer garden from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Shout Out will hit the stage at 6:30 p.m. in the beer garden.
Speaking of alcohol, you must be 21 to be inside the beer garden. No exceptions. Alcohol is allowed outside the beer garden within the event until 8:30 p.m. only.
On top of the food and entertainment, there will be a raffle drawing on the main stage for cash prizes, a Dine in Galesburg Basket with $500 worth of gift cards to local restaurants, and other great prizes.
