Nature’s Treatment of Illinois has announced a nearly $4 million expansion project that will focus on cultivating and infusing adult-use cannabis in Galesburg. The project will add an additional 10,000 square feet to its building at 735 W. Main St., and will create up to 30 new full-time jobs.
NTI has operated an adult-use cannabis dispensary on this site since the spring of 2020. The proposed expansion will see NTI extend its operations into craft cultivation of cannabis as well as infusing edible products. NTI was successful in securing an Illinois cultivation license in the summer of 2023. The project will allow NTI to create their own cannabis-related products onsite and will enhance existing offerings at their retail locations in Galesburg and Milan.
In a statement, Trent Jacquin of NTI said, “NTI has long wanted to get into the craft cannabis cultivation market and that day has finally come. Galesburg has been a great fit for us since opening our second store there in 2020.”
The project will add an additional 10,000 square feet to the building and will also utilize 8,600 square feet of available space on the north end of the building that is currently unused. The project carries an estimated price tag of $3.5 to $4 million dollars and will create up to 30 new full-time jobs in Galesburg once the project is operating at full capacity.
In 2019, Galesburg was one of the first Illinois communities to approve zoning for the newly-created statewide legal cannabis market, which led to the community receiving interest from dispensary operators.
“NTI has been a great addition to the area’s business community and we are happy to see them expanding their footprint and adding jobs in Galesburg,” said Ken Springer, president of the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development.
