Galesburg hires city attorney, still searching for other administration

The Galesburg City Council checked one off their list of jobs that need to be filled Monday night, as they hired the James Kelly Law Firm as city attorney.

James Kelly and Jason Jording will be the two lawyers working with the city, spending at least two days at City Hall a week according to Kelly.

This completes the tenure of Barash and Everett attorneys Paul Mangieri and Leslie Day, who always intended to work in the interim.

The contract for the Kelly Law Firm would be $115,000 annually without benefits.

Meanwhile, the search for city manager and director of Public Works goes on.

Council on Monday night raised the salary range posted for the director of Public Works job by 10 percent., which would put the range between $116,000 to $149,000.

GovHR has reviewed the City’s current pay structure and recommended posting the position at a higher rate since the Council decided to require candidates to have an Illinois Professional Engineer’s License.

GovHR made this recommendation based on a salary study they’re doing that’s ongoing.
