A month-long investigation by several area police departments has led to the arrest of two people.
According to Knox County Sheriff Jack Harlan, a search warrant was executed at 740 S. Seminary St. on Thursday, August 17th, at just around 9:09 p.m.
Two Galesburg residents were taken into custody before a search of the premises and vehicles were conducted.
The search revealed cocaine, Vicodin, a stolen firearm, 41.2 pounds of cannabis, over 1,200 illegally manufactured vape cartridges, cannabis infusion processing equipment, and a “large” amount of United States Currency.
The joint investigation between the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knoxville Police Department, and Monmouth Police Department was a result of reports of juveniles overdosing on cannabis-infused vape cartridges.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that possible other ingredients were being added and mixed in with the vape cartridges causing the juveniles to have a reaction.
Sheriff Harlan identified the two arrested as Dominique Wingo and Thomas Swing.
Charges were Possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of a stolen firearm, and armed violence for both, with Swing being charged with aggravated possession of a stolen firearm
