Galesburg Police are investigating after a garage in the 500 block of Lincoln Street was burglarized sometime possibly Friday night. The owner of the garage notified police after a business owner next door noticed the damage. The bottom panels of a closed overhead door were kicked in, and the walk-in door was left open. The neighboring business owner boarded up the bottom of the door for the victim. The owner told police when the suspects got inside, they opened the walk-in door due to the overhead door not being opened for years. Police also noticed an attempt was made to enter a shed as well – but the suspects were unable to remove a padlock. The building owner told police he suspected somewhere between $10,000-$15,000 worth of tools and machinery were stolen including a 300-pound welder. Officers observed tire tracks nearby in the grass that could be connected to the burglary. The incident is under investigation. Area businesses were reviewing any potential security video footage at the time of the police report.
