GPD responds to yet another report of a burglarized storage unit

.

Galesburg Police on Tuesday afternoon responded to the U-Haul storage facility for yet another report of burglary. Police met with a 41-year-old woman and a 49-year-old woman who said they received a notification that someone attempted to log into their account. According to the U-Haul website, the company advertises electronically controlled access and individually alarmed rooms, but it remains unclear what account a suspect used to gain access to the woman’s storage unit. After receiving the notification, the woman responded to her storage unit where both locks on the unit were not tampered with, and there was no forced entry made. The woman’s unit had been rummaged through and numerous items were missing including designer purses, a VR headset, clothing, and electronics. The total value of all the items taken is around $5,450. The victims could not determine when the theft occurred. This marks the fifth report of burglarized storage units at the Galesburg U-Haul facility in less than 30 days.
