The Jewel of Galesburg has a series of scary movies planned to help film fans get into the spooky time of year this month.

The Orpheum Theatre’s After Dark Fright Film Festival returns again this year with four terrifying titles that will be free to attend and begin at 8 p.m. each Friday night through October.

The series kicks off with 1932’s The Mummy on October 6 and wraps up with 1992’s Candyman on October 27.

In conjunction with the festival, a Scary Movie Double Feature is also planned for Saturday, October 14, for the films Next of Kin and Strange Behavior — a film that is actually set in Galesburg.

The spookiness culminates with the annual showing of the cult favorite The Rocky Horror Picture Show on October 28th with the doors opening at 10:00 p.m., the costume contest starting at 11:00, and the movie starting at midnight.

Advanced tickets are $10 but will be $15 the night of the performance. Mezzanine tickets are $20 or a 6-person box is $100.
