An Abingdon man is scheduled to be back in court next month on charges of possession of between 15-100 grams of methamphetamine, a Class 1 felony.
According to a press release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had received several complaints from residents in Abingdon of possible illegal drug trafficking at various locations around town. While patrolling the 400-block of S. Jefferson St. on Tuesday afternoon, deputies conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle being driven by 40-year-old Adam Putman.
Upon making contact with Putman, deputies identified suspicious activity from him and requested a K9 unit to assist with the traffic stop investigation. When the K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, a search of the vehicle was done, leading to the discovery of 84 grams meth and Putman’s arrest.
He made his initial appearance in Knox County Circuit Court Wednesday where no request for detainment was made and he was released with a pretrial court date of Wednesday, November 8, according to online court records. He was also ordered to report to pretrial services within 24 hours of his release.
