Ashley Worby announces candidacy for Knox County State’s Attorney

Assistant State’s Attorney in Knox County Ashley Worby on Friday declared that she will seek the State’s Attorney’s job in the 2024 elections as a Republican.

Worby has been a prosecutor in the office for the past four years under both former State’s Attorney John Pepmeyer and the incumbent, Jeremy Karlin.

Karlin has also announced that he will run again in 2024, setting up a possible general election contest between Worby and her former boss.

Working with Karlin as First Assistant Worby has prosecuted two First Degree Murder and Attempt First Degree Murder cases before juries.

She says her campaign is based on a platform of law and order, community safety, and a commitment to justice.

Worby was also a candidate for Galesburg City Council in 2019 in the 7th Ward.
