Showcase your music, poetry, comedy, spoken word, or other types of performance at the Galesburg Public Library’s open mic night! Walk-ins are accepted, but preference will be given to performers who sign up in advance. Please keep the content of your performance appropriate for a PG-13 audience. Even if you’re not taking the stage yourself, come watch the performances! Snacks and refreshments will be provided, so sit back and enjoy the show! Audience is open to all ages, but children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult, and parental guidance is recommended for children under 12.

Wednesday-Thursday: Knox-Galesburg Symphony Community Series: Camerata Woodwind Quintet

Founded in 1966, the Camerata Woodwind Quintet was the first chamber music ensemble in residence at Western Illinois University. Over the past half century, the group has presented performances and clinics throughout the region, the nation, and the world. The Camerata Woodwind Quintet’s mission is to engage with students and the community through the medium of music. The core goals are to educate and strive for excellence, creativity, and inclusivity in our efforts to connect with the diverse student body through performances, workshops, and outreach initiatives. The ensemble aims to create memorable experiences, foster meaningful connections, and contribute to the cultural enrichment of our campus and community by sharing our passion for chamber music.

Don’t miss your chance to see this group perform! They have two performances this week, the first one being at 7:30 pm. Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Symphony Center, 95 N. Seminary St. in Galesburg. The second performance is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 at First Lutheran Church 364 E Water St. in Galesburg. Tickets are available online here.

Friday: CASA Lip Sync Battle Fundraiser

Join us for our annual Lip Sync Battle fundraiser, featuring battles from local talent!

Taking place at The Vault Artisan Ales, doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event begins at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit CASA of West Central Illinois for support and advocacy of abused and neglected children in our court system. Individual tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.

Friday – Sunday: Over the River and Through the Woods

Nick, a single Italian-American guy from New Jersey, spends every Sunday dinner with both sets of grandparents. They love it, he’s okay with it. It becomes a routine until he is offered his dream marketing job across the U.S. in Seattle. His grandparents scheme to keep him where he belongs in Hoboken, New Jersey. This play has equal parts laughter and tears (It’s true, I did the math.)

Join Prairie Players Civic Theatre for the production of Over the River and Through the Woods! Shows are the weekend of November 11 and the weekend of Nov. 18. Tickets are available for purchase here.

Friday: Knox College Choir ‘When I Look Up’

This fall, the Knox College Choir presents “When I Look Up,” a concert of music about the majestic, terrifying, or beautiful moments in our lives. Produced with the assistance of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, the performance features singers and players from Knox and across western Illinois. Everyone in the city and region is warmly invited! The concert is free, and no reservations are required — just come as you are.

8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Central Congregational Church.
