Kansas City man arrested in Galesburg after trying to pay with counterfeit $100 bills

Galesburg Police on Saturday responded to the East Main Street Taco Bell for a report of an individual attempting to pay with a fraudulent bill. On Friday, the subject reportedly used two of the bills at Menards. When the man attempted to pay with a copy of a $100 bill, the machine at Taco Bell would not accept it and employees called the police. When police made contact with the 44-year-old Kansas City, Missouri man, he described himself to police as a “Natural Citizen” and could use the money how he pleased. The man was using copies of a 1974 $100 bill. He was in possession of 19 copies of the same bill. The man was also in possession of two glass smoking pipes and a tobacco canister with suspected methamphetamine. Additional officers confirmed the man was the same suspect from the day before at Menards. The man was charged with Forgery and Possession of Meth between 5 and 15 grams. He was transported to the Knox County Jail.
