Galesburg Police on Thursday last week was monitoring South Seminary Street near Third Street when a suspicious vehicle passed police. The vehicle abruptly pulled into a driveway. The male driver got out and placed a bag in the trunk, and a female passenger got out and then got behind the wheel before departing again. Officers then discovered the vehicle had expired registration and conducted a traffic stop. The 43-year-old man who was initially driving the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. Inside the vehicle, police located a package of firecrackers in the center console. Inside the trunk, police found a scale with white residue, a spring-loaded switchblade, a stun gun, and a ski mask. Also in the trunk was a glass pipe, 48 Alprazolam pills, one gram of meth, and 2-3 grams of amphetamines. The man refused to speak to police. He was charged with Driving while Suspended, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Meth, Possession with Intent to Deliver, and Drug Paraphernalia. The man was taken to and held at the Knox County Jail.
