Friday: The Muppet Christmas Carol

Enjoy this Christmas classic FREE at The Orpheum Theatre in preparation for this year’s Choral Dynamics Show: “Sing We Now of A Christmas Carol”. at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. Enter into the magical world of The Muppets and enjoy a fun twist on this classic Christmas tale! Thank you to Edward Jones – Tom Maloney for generously sponsoring this movie for Choral Dynamics.
Friday: The Play That Goes Wrong
Silver Streaks Theatre presents The Play That Goes Wrong High School Edition Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer & Henry Shields. This show that follows the opening night of the Cornley Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show—an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). Nevertheless, the accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences! Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, this Olivier Award–winning comedy is a global phenomenon that’s guaranteed to leave you aching with laughter! Shows are Nov. 17 & 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at Galesburg Jr Sr High School in the newly remodeled Hegg Performing Arts Center.
Saturday: Holly Days 5K & 1M Fun Run
Tie up those laces, it’s time for the races! Register today for this festive, yet fun 5K and 1M run. You’ll be jingling all the way! In its inaugural year, the Holly Days 5K & Fun Run promises scenic downtown views, competitive and for-fun running, as well as plenty of included goodies. Registration opens at 8 a.m., and the race begins at 9:30 a.m. Meeting place is The Vault, 185 S. Kellogg Street. There’s 3 types of registration available at the link here:
- $35 – 5K with shirt
- $25 – 1M with shirt
- $15 – 1M w/o shirt
*Prices reflect early registration. Fee increases $5 day-of.
Registrants will receive:

Saturday: Galesburg Community Chorus Fall Concert
Join Galesburg Community Chorus for the fall concert Misa a Buenos Aires by Martin Palmeri, taking place at First Presbyterian Church at 7:30 p.m.! Featuring guest conductor Dr. Justin Swearinger, and Charles Gorczynski on the Bandoneon. Students are free, Seniors 60+ are $10 each, and Adults are $15. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at www.galesburgcommunitychorus.org
