Lisa Ann Steinbach, 57, a heartwarming presence bound by kindness and intelligence, passed away in her home in Galesburg, Illinois on December 1, 2023. Born to Lyla Hamilton and Gerald Reed on June 12, 1966, in Rock Island, Illinois, Lisa’s life was a beacon of love and devotion to her family and faith.
Lisa’s journey was deeply intertwined with her role as Payroll Coordinator at Knox College, where she dedicated over 30 years of service. Lisa had an adventurous spirit. Her last exploration was a work trip to Colorado, which she took great enjoyment from. Her educational pursuits at Robert Morris College in Carthage, Illinois, laid the groundwork for her exemplary career, culminating in an Associate of Applied Science degree.
Her passion for numbers and mathematics was paralleled by her love of nature, finding joy in the simplicity of wild animals, especially birds and squirrels. Lisa’s hands were often seen skillfully crocheting, a testament to her creativity and love for crafting warmth both literally and figuratively. Her world revolved around her family. Lisa married the love of her life, Shawn Steinbach on May 5, 1990, in Alexis, Illinois
Her legacy is cherished by her husband, Shawn H. Steinbach, her son, Matt Steinbach of Columbia, Missouri, her daughter, Erin Steinbach of Iowa City, IA, her nephew, Kobe Reed of Rockford, Illinois, her mother, Lyla Hamilton Taylor of Rock Island, Illinois, her father, Gerald Reed of House Springs, Missouri, her half-sister, Teri Lynne of Fulton, Illinois, and in memories with her predeceased brother, Ron Reed.
Lisa was a devout member and lector at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, embodying her strong Catholic faith in every aspect of her life. She lived life for others, an everlasting emblem of her loving and kind nature.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, Illinois. The rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with funeral mass following at 10:30 a.m. Father Lee Brokaw will officiate. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, www.npcf.us.
