Thousands were without power in the Knox/Warren/Fulton County region on Monday.
Supervisor of Communications with Ameren Stacey Shangraw tells WGIL that outages were related to an “equipment issue with the sub-transmission line out of Abingdon.”
She adds that the same issue caused outages on Sunday as well.
Shangraw says there was no estimated time for the issue to be resolved but says Ameren is using switching to get customers back on.
Switching is a process where if there’s an issue on a line Ameren can isolate that and move a majority of customers to another line.
Outages were seen most heavily in Monmouth, Abingdon, Avon, and St. Augustine.
Ameren’s Outage Map shows that power had largely been restored by 2 p.m. Monday
Abingdon-Avon District 276 and United District 304 schools were without power Monday and released early.
