Galesburg man charged after causing a disturbance at Whiting Hall

..

Galesburg Police on Friday afternoon were dispatched to Whiting Hall on East Tompkins Street for a report of a disturbance. Officers arrived and observed two male subjects arguing. Police separated the two and made contact with a 51-year-old man who initially gave police a false name.
The man told police he was at the building to “see a client.” After he was let in, a female employee heard the man and a woman yelling at each other at the woman’s apartment, and the man was asked to leave. The man became aggressive and violent and struck the female employee with his phone and his fingers while yelling at her. When a male employee stepped in, the male suspect then threatened to cut the other man. The male suspect was then detained and officers located a knife in the man’s front hoodie pocket. Using the man’s identification card, police were able to identify him and discovered he had a valid Knox County warrant. He was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct.
