Knoxville City Council recap: Mayor, Council plan for 2024

The Knoxville City Council met Tuesday in Council Chambers at Knoxville City Hall.

All elected officials were present except one alderman; The Minutes of the December 18, 2023 Knoxville City Council Meeting were approved as submitted.

Old Business:

  1. Demolition of 209 N Hebard St: Because of the presence of asbestos in the Building the City will need to know where the asbestos can be safely disposed of. Several proposed resources may be able to give the City advice.

 

Mayor’s Report: The Mayor presented a list of a number of items that need to be addressed during this year:

  • Five-year plans need to be prepared for each department.
  • Water and sewage rates need to be evaluated.
  • Storage rates need to be evaluated and the storage buildings maintenance costs need to be determined.
  • Plans are needed for the maintenance and/or replacement of garbage trucks.
  • The pickleball court needs to have lines painted.
  • The equipment from the old Skate Board Park has been disposed of.
  • Sidewalk work is needed.

 

Committee Reports:

  • There were no committee reports but the city clerk suggested that there be a time scheduled for the City Council members (and the public) to tour the various facilities.
