Around 5:00 pm on Monday, GPD was dispatched to the 2700 block of Springer Road for a residential burglary. A 19-year-old man told police he invited two friends over, another 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, to see his new apartment and play video games. After his two friends left, the man was notified by one of them that his dog got out. While the man looked for his dog, he was informed by his landlord that two male subjects exited his apartment with what appeared to be a pair of video game systems. The suspect admitted to stealing the game consoles over Facetime with the victim. Twenty-four hours later, on Monday, officers responded to the railroad tracks in the 200 block of North Prairie for a stuck vehicle. An on-looker told officers they saw the male subjects in the vehicle hiding a bag in the snow. The 18-year-old male passenger was the same suspect as the night before. Officers discovered a 9mm firearm and a JR Carbine firearm inside the bag. One of the stolen PlayStation 5s from the previous night was also in the backseat of the sedan. The 20-year-old male driver and the male passenger were charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Firearm without A FOID Card. The 18-year-old man was also charged with Residential Burglary.
