Galesburg boys swim team sets more records en route to Panther Invite championship

The Galesburg High School boys swim team set two meet records and one team record en route to winning the 42nd annual Panther Invitational on Saturday at United Township High School in East Moline.

The Streaks won 11-team invitational with 309 points to easily outdistance runner-up Normal Community which had 265 points. Sterling was third with 133 points.

Setting meet records were a pair of winning Galesburg relay teams. Carson Olson. Travis Henry. Riley Stevenson and Luke Thomas led the Streaks to a first in the medley relay, while Stevenson. Thomas, Nathan Nelson and Olson won the 200 free in record time.

Andrew Peterson set a team record of 451.85 points while finishing second in diving.

Olson also swam to individual firsts in the 200 individual medley and 100 fly.

Also claiming victory for the Streaks was the 400 free relay team of Nelson, Jackson Warren, Ryan Tapper and Henry.
