The award is decided by the Galesburg Youth Commission and is given to a K-12 Galesburg student who has gone the “extra mile” in volunteerism, heroism, or community service.

She has also volunteered at the City’s Candyland Ball, the Kiwanis Pancake Dinner, Illinois Music Education Association’s competitions, junior high music concerts, the GHS Trunk or Treat event, and more.

Clark is also a dedicated musician and member of the GHS Marching Streaks drumline, GHS Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band and throughout her band career has given of her time to speak with, and perform for, younger percussion students.

The Youth Extra Effort Award is an initiative of the Youth Commission, which recognizes a student who has gone the extra mile to support and participate in the community, such as volunteering or community service. Nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis, and the award nomination form can be found on the city’s website.
