Police are reporting that a bus with protestors demonstrated at Henry Hill Correction Center in Galesburg Sunday before traveling to an Illinois Department of Corrections employee’s home.
It’s not clear what the protest was in regards to, only that it was an issue at Hill Correctional Center according to the Kewanee Police Department.
Kewanee Police received information Sunday about a charter bus of protestors and known gang members making their way to Kewanee from Galesburg.
Agencies like Kewanee Police, Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police and IDOC were deployed to the Kewanee home.
Police say that when the bus arrived the individuals demonstrated peaceful conduct, listened to officers’ instructions, and remained on public property throughout the call, then departed after 15 minutes.
Kewanee Police have implemented additional patrols for the safety of the IDOC employee.
