83-year-old man identified as victim of Tuesday night house fire in Monmouth

Warren County officials have identified the victim of a Tuesday night house fire in Monmouth. 83-year-old James Barry Sr. died as a result of injuries sustained in the fire a 3-14 West 3rd Avenue in Monmouth. Warren County Coroner Al McGuire told WGIL that autopsy results are still pending. WGIL reported yesterday that the Monmouth Fire Department responded to the two-story home around 5:30 pm on Tuesday. Upon arrival, the front of the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Fire officials were notified while en route that one resident was still inside at the time. Firefighters were able to evacuate Barry who unfortunately succumbed to the injuries. The blaze was extinguished by 8:18 pm on Tuesday with assistance from the RSP&E Fire Protection District, Central Warren Fire Protection District, and the Little York Fire Protection District. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Monmouth Fire Department Investigators and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
