Monday: ‘Coffee for the Cause’ Mocha Mondays

Innkeeper’s Coffee Shop is engaging in the “Put Your Heart Into It” campaign by demonstrating a dual commitment to philanthropy with Thrive Community Services. Throughout the entire month of February, customers can make a difference with every large Mocha purchase on Mondays, as Innkeeper’s Coffee Shop pledges to donate $1 for each of these indulgent beverages sold. This proactive approach showcases Innkeeper’s Coffee Shop’s dedication to making a positive impact on the community through both direct donations and creative fundraising initiatives.

Monday: Knox and Bradley Jazz Ensembles with Adam Larson

Join the Knox and Bradley big bands for their yearly joint concert, this year featuring saxophonist Adam Larson. Monday, February 29th at 7pm, at the Galesburg Community Arts Center! The Knox Jazz Ensemble is directed by Justin Haynes and the Bradley Jazz Ensemble is directed by Dr. Todd Kelly.

Adam Larson (b. 1990) is an American saxophonist, composer and author. An endorsed artist for P. Mauriat saxophones, The Boston Sax Shop and Key Leaves, Adam began playing saxophone at the age of 11. Described by critic Howard Reich of The Chicago-Tribune as “a player for whom the word ‘prodigious’ was coined”, by Peter Hum of the Ottawa Citizen as “a saxophonist who brings Donny McCaslin and Mark Turner to mind”, and by Nate Chinen of The New York Times as “the sort of jazz musician who gets flagged early on as a promising talent and then hustles to meet every requirement for success”, Larson has garnered numerous awards that distinguish him as one of the most promising artists of his generation. Upon graduating from high school in 2008, Adam moved to New York City to pursue his BM and MM in Jazz Performance on full-scholarship from The Manhattan School of Music, finishing his studies in 2014.

Saturday: 80’s Glow Rock n’ Roll Bingo for Costa Community Association

This isn’t your grandma’s bingo, but she can play too! Come party with us as we spin music, giving away prizes as we go. We’ll play the music, you mark off your cards and shout BINGO!!! Cost is just $10. Additional cards available to increase your chance of winning! Prizes will be given out after each game.

Here’s how it works: Instead of boring old numbers being called out in a normal game of bingo, we’ve replaced them with 20-30 seconds of the most toe-tappin’, booty wigglin’, chair dancin’ sing-along songs from the past and present!

Rock n’ Roll Bingo of the Quad Cities will be your host for this unbelievable event. Come for the prizes, stay for the fun on Saturday, February 24th at 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with proceeds to benefit CCA. This event has an 80’s glow theme. Players are encouraged to wear your best 80’s garb and be prepared for a totally gnarly time!!

Sunday: Auditions: Exit Laughing

When the biggest highlight in your life for the past 30 years has been your weekly bridge night out with the “girls,” what do you do when one of your foursome inconveniently dies? You “borrow” the ashes from the funeral home for one last card game, and the wildest, most exciting night of your lives involves a police raid, a stripper, and a whole new way of looking at all the fun you can have when you’re truly living.

Audition for Exit Laughing by Paul Elliott, directed by Sonrisa Nolan, on Sunday & Monday, February 25th & 26th @ 6pm at Prairie Players Civic Theatre! Performances are April 12-21, 2024, learn more at www.prairieplayers.com!
