A person was killed in a single-vehicle accident on I-74 north of Galesburg on Monday afternoon.
According to Illinois State Police, it responded to a single-vehicle accident on I-74 near milepost 40 at 4:33 p.m. Monday. A car traveling west on I-74 ran off the road to the left. The car then re-entered the roadway, crossing both westbound lands and ran off the road to the right.
The car struck several trees, rolled over, coming to rest on its top. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
