A 21-year-old has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Galesburg on Thursday afternoon.
According to a news release, the Galesburg Police Department responded to a report of a shooting around 3 p.m. Thursday. The victim was driving in a vehicle and was moving at the time the incident occurred. Officers were able to locate the victim and found a grazing gunshot wound to the left shoulder. The victim was treated at the scene.
The investigation led to a vehicle and possible suspect being identified. On Friday, an arrest warrant was obtained for Tomas A. Rubio, age 21. Rubio subsequently turned himself in to the Galesburg Police Department that same afternoon.
Rubio was charged with attempted murder and booked into the Knox County Jail, where he is being detained at this time.
The Galesburg Police Department received assistance from the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service, Galesburg Fire Department, Kewanee Police Department and Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
