A growing health care company plans to add its fourth new medical facility in Galesburg, this time on the city’s south side.

Canton-based Graham Health Systems will open a combination primary care clinic and a walk-in convenient care clinic at 435 E. Third St., site of the former Galesburg Rescue Mission.

Bob Senneff, CEO and president of Graham Health, tells WGIL he expects the clinics to be open by early summer. The new south side clinics be serve patients from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Graham recently acquired the newer, 12,400 square foot building on the east side of the former Rescue Mission campus from Benedict Holdings, LLC. The building previously served as a thrift shop.

South side clinics fill ‘health care desert’

The Galesburg City Council on Monday unanimously approved a minor plat of the Senneff Subdivision. The approval allows the current owner to subdivide the property into two parcels.

Senneff said the clinics will occupy about a third of the building and will be located on the south portion of the property that faces Hi-Lo Grocery store.

“We see some issues for folks on the south side to get to the north side for health care,” Senneff said. “All of the medical services in this community are north of Main Street.

“This project will not only create jobs for the community, but also fill the desert, so to speak, on that side of town, in terms of health care.”

Senneff added, “We have the plans already drawn up, and in about 12 to 16 weeks, we’ll be able to start seeing patients.”

New North Seminary St. facility to open in August

Graham has been aggressive in Galesburg since the sudden failure of Cottage Hospital in early 2022. Graham Medical Group’s Convenient Care clinic opened Sept. 6, 2022, at 1174 N. Seminary St. in the former Hayden Chiropractic Clinic.

And Graham’s Galesburg Family Medicine & Specialty Care Clinic opened in June 2023 at 530 N. Seminary St.

Additionally, Graham acquired 36 acres of property on North Seminary Street. At 2300 N. Seminary St., Graham is building a new 13,000 square foot facility where primary care, multiple specialty practices, as well as laboratory, a wound clinic, imaging and endoscopy services will be provided.

Senneff said the initial phase of the new far north facility is expected to be open to patients by Aug. 1.
