Margaret E. Mitchell, 86, of Monmouth, passed away at 6:36 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2024, at Roseville Rehab and Healthcare. She was born September 24, 1937, in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Paul and Blanche (McMahill) Flynn. She was raised and educated in Roseville, graduating from Roseville High School in 1955. She later attended the Cottage Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1958. She later attended Western Illinois University where she received her BS in Public Health.
Margaret married W.K. Mitchell on September 17, 1960, in Roseville and he survives.
She worked as a surgical charge nurse at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Cottage Hospital and Ivinson General Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming, for 43 years until her retirement. She was exceptionally well respected by her peers during her career.
Cremation rites have been accorded with no services planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Illinois Animal Rescue and left in the care of the funeral home.
