Meet the new principal at Silas Willard Elementary School in Galesburg

A longtime educator, most recently in the Knoxville school district, is the new principal at Silas Willard Elementary School in Galesburg.

Jodi Keever was approved as the Silas Willard principal for the 2024-25 school year on Monday. She has been an educator for 18 years, including the past two years as the principal at Mable Woolsey Elementary in Knoxville. She previous  taught third grade at Mable Woolsey Elementary.

Keever also has experience teaching at Des Plaines Community Consolidated School District 62 and at Franklin McKinley School District in San Jose, California.

“I firmly believe that a strong partnership between the school, parents, students, and the wider community is essential for fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment,” Keever said in a statement on the district website galesburg205.org.

“Collaboration and open communication will be at the heart of my approach as we work together to ensure the success of every student.”

Originally from Villa Park, Keever earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Illinois, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, and a Master’s Degree in Administration from Western Illinois University.

“My vision for Silas Willard is one of inclusivity, innovation, and excellence,” she said. “I am committed to upholding the school’s values while also seeking new opportunities for growth and improvement.

“Together, we will strive to create a culture where every student feels valued, inspired, and empowered to reach their full potential.”

Keever and her husband Ryan have two children, Reid who is 8, and Adalyn who is 5.
