You might not think of the Western Illinois Builders Association’s annual Home Show as something that can bring back memories, but for some people, it really does.
Among those is who is now organizing the home show for the association, Kaylee Johnson.
“My dad was a carpenter, and he never missed the Home Show. We always went,” said Johnson. “Usually, on Saturdays, I spent Saturdays going with him to People’s to get some new tool that he needed, or something he was going to need for the job.
People’s Do-It Center will be one of the dozens of vendors at the home show, along with a number of other local businesses that can help you build or remodel your home, and even local banks that can finance the job if needed.
“It’s so much easier than opening the phone book, picking up the phone, and calling one person after another,” said Johnson. “You can spend one day, an afternoon or a morning, and ask all the questions that you want to.
The home show is Saturday from 10 to 4 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Galesburg, and admission is free.
Door prizes will be given away, said Johnson, and there will be activities for children. The KC Hall kitchen will be open for lunch, for a cost.
