McDonough District Hospital names Murdock as official president and CEO

The interim President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonough District Hospital is an interim no more.

Bill Murdock was officially hired by the MDH Board of Directors on Monday after having served in the role since December of 2023.

Jere Greuel, Chairman of the MDH Board of Directors says,  “The feedback we’ve received on Bill (Murdock) serving as interim President & Chief Executive Officer was very positive. We face many challenges in healthcare, and our Board is confident in Bill’s ability to lead our hospital into the future.”

Murdock first joined MDH in April 2019 as the Vice President/Chief Financial Officer.

When he joined the hospital he brought more than 30 years of executive leadership in healthcare to the organization, along with that ties to Macomb and McDonough County.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from Western Illinois University in 1993, then a MBA from the Keller School of Management in 2016. Murdock became LEAN Bronze certified in 2015.

Bill and his wife Angie, a native of Macomb and also a graduate of WIU, are the parents of four children, two of whom are WIU graduates.

In February, McDonough District Hospital officials announced that former President and CEO Brian Dietz stepped down from his role.
