A Galesburg District 205 teacher was arrested Thursday for theft, six years after pleading guilty to a similar charge.
54-year-old Michelle White again faces charges for theft over $300 after she was allegedly caught engaging in what retailers call skip scanning.
Skip scanning is where a customer pretends to scan an item and then places it into a bag without paying for it.
An asset protection employee with Target stopped White and called police.
The employee informed police, according to a police report, they had witnessed White skip scan on two other occasions; April 27 and May 10.
The total amount they claim was stolen from the three trips was approximately $353.
White reportedly told officers before her arrest that she has been going through some hard times and needed the items.
White was issued a notice to appear in court.
