One dead, one injured after late Friday morning shooting in Galesburg

One person is dead and another injured as the result of a Friday morning shooting incident on East South Street in Galesburg.

Galesburg Police say the shooting was first reported at 11:12 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of East South Street, between Day and Pine Streets.

Police say they found a gunshot victim inside 949 E. South St., and they were pronounced dead on scene.  A second victim has since been taken to OSF HealthCare St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, after initially being taken by private vehicle to OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. That person’s condition is unclear.

Names of the victims are not being released at this time.

The Galesburg Police Department and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigator continue to investigate the incident.

Police say there is no indication of a larger threat to the public, and describe the shooting as an “isolated incident.”
