One person is dead and another is injured following an accident over the weekend on Interstate 74 in Knox County.
Illinois State Police say the accident happened around 1:15 Saturday morning near mile marker 41.5, believed to be near Galesburg.
Troopers say one of the two vehicles involved was already disabled after hitting a deer, when it was struck from behind by a semi and pushed into the median.
The semi driver and the driver of the car were both injured and taken to the hospital, while the passenger in the car — Pamela Jones, 36, of Colorado — was pronounced dead at the hospital.
An investigation into the crash is continuing. State Police say they will release no further information.
The victim was identified by the Knox County Coroner.
