Juvenile arrested after shots fired around Knox and Pine Streets

A Galesburg 17-year-old is in the Mary Davis Home while he faces charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possessing a stolen gun and resisting officers.

Residents alerted Galesburg Police to shots fired in the area of E. Knox and Pine Streets Friday morning just after 10 a.m.

No one was believed to be hurt.

Neighbors gave police descriptions of two subjects and officers located a person that matched, a 17-year-old.

When officers tried to initiate a traffic stop the boy got out of the vehicle, ran and threw a gun up in the air.

He admitted to being in the area where shots were fired but said it was another juvenile who fired shots.

Officers arrested him and transported him to the Knox County Jail before eventually going to the Knox County Mary Davis Home.

It’s unclear when his next court date will be.

Police found seven spent shell 9mm casings in the roadway and a resident on E. Knox has bulletholes in their fence and side of the house.

Police also found the recovered gun was listed as stolen out of Macomb.
