An Abingdon man is in trouble with the law for allegedly hitting a house while driving erratically Sunday night.
The Knox County Sheriffs Department says the 22-year-old man in question is being charged with Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Failure to Remain at the Scene of a Vehicle Damage Crash, and Driving Under the Influence.
It started around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, when an employee of the Abingdon Casey’s called police with a driving complaint involving a SUV nearly hitting a vehicle in the parking lot, before the driver, seeming to be very intoxicated according to the employee, once entered the store.
Deputies say less than ten minutes later a report came of a vehicle hitting a house on East Street then departed.
The vehicle was eventually found, and deputies say the suspect was later located inside an otherwise vacant residence and was taken into custody.
