
An experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching, athletics and aquatics management is the new assistant principal at Galesburg Senior High School.
The District 205 Board of Education hired Megan Pittman to fill the position of assistant principal at GHS at Monday’s meeting.
According to a D205 news release, Pittman is an accomplished educational leader with a diverse background in teaching, athletics and aquatics management. She has an M.S.Ed. in educational leadership from Western Illinois University and a J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law, with a Certificate in Dispute Resolution. She earned her undergrad degree from the University of Massachusetts where she competed as a varsity swimmer and rower.
Pittman comes to Galesburg from Macomb School District where she served as an English teacher, boys and girls swim coach and softball coach. District 205 officials say Pittman has demonstrated excellence in implementing evidence-based instructional strategies and achieving notable student growth. She also has extensive experience in athletics includes directing aquatics programs at the City of Macomb, Carib Swim Team, and Miami Country Day School, where she managed large-scale programs, supervised staff and led capital campaigns.
