According to a police report, Galesburg officers responded to a call at 310 Indiana Ave. just before 9:30 p.m. from a man who said he had shot his son with a handgun.
Officers quoted him as saying “come on, get him help” when they arrived on scene.
The son was taken to OSF St. Mary Medical Center before being Life Flighted to St. Francis in Peoria.
Doctors there said that he was struck with two bullets — one lodged in his pelvis and another that went through his left arm.
According to the police report, both father and son admitted to drinking and arguing.
The father said that his son often got violent when drinking, advised him that he had to leave, and when his son refused he was thrown on the ground, at which point he retrieved his revolver.
The son’s account to police was that his father got a gun and he lunged at him to get it away.
he father was taken to the Knox County Jail charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon.
