Finishing touches are being put on a much-anticipated Dunkin’/Baskin-Robbins store expected to open soon in Galesburg.

Haresh Patel, franchisee for Dunkin’ stores in Peoria, Bloomington/Normal, Quincy and Macomb, tells WGIL the Galesburg location at 955 N. Henderson will open the week of Aug. 5, barring any last-minute snags.

Hours of operation for the Galesburg location will be 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Galesburg location will be the latest Dunkin’/Baskin-Robbins prototype. The 2,520 square foot building will feature a drive-thru, inside dining space and a patio area for outside dining.

“It’s the newest store Dunkin’ has available, and includes all the bells and whistles,” Patel said. “It will be both exciting and a relief when we finally open.

“Ground-up projects are really tough, but we had a really good contractor.”

Vehicles enter on the south side of the property, while walk-in patrons will enter Dunkin’/Baskin through a door on the west side, facing Henderson Street. A drive-thru menu board and order station is located at the rear of the property, and the pickup/pay window would be on the north side of the building — next to Lim’s Ice Cream.

With On-the-Go Ordering, all users of the Dunkin’ Mobile App can simply tap to order ahead, then quickly pick up their items in-store, at the drive-thru or curbside.

Founded in 1950, Dunkin’ is the world’s leading baked goods and coffee chain, serving more than 3 million customers each and every day. They offer 50-plus varieties of doughnuts, but they also serve dozens of premium beverages, bagels, breakfast sandwiches and other baked goods.

It will mark the first Dunkin’ restaurant in Galesburg. Galesburg previously had a Baskin-Robbins at the site of the current Lim’s Ice Cream store.
