Friday: Members & Friends 2024: Opening Reception

Come join us from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at the Galesburg Community Arts Center for awards and the opening reception of our annual Members and Friends Exhibition.The Galesburg Community Arts Center announced a call to artists for its annual Members and Friends Exhibition. Families, individuals, professional artists, and amateur artists were all encouraged to participate, and the winners have been chosen! Come celebrate local artists with us! The Juried Art Exhibition will be open from August 9th-31st during the Galesburg Community Art Center’s open hours. 

Friday: Jake Zuercher & Ethan Zulz Live on the Reserve Artisan Ales Patio

They are back! Both Jake and Ethan are locals to the Galesburg area, playing Folk and Americana music. Come out and hear them on the beautiful Reserve Artisan Ales Patio from 7-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. Bring some food and friends and grab a drink to enjoy beautiful music on a summer evening!

Friday: Movie in the Park

We hope you can join us for the 2024 Movie in the Park, brought to us by the IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union! Featuring the 2023 movie Super Mario Bros, this event will be a fun & safe event for all. This event is available for no cost, courtesy of the IHMVCU! Limited free popcorn available at the start of the movie. Games & activities provided from 7-8 p.m. by the City of Galesburg Parks & Recreation games crew with the Mobile Playground Truck. Movie will begin at dusk located in the Green Space West of Lake Story Pavilion.

Saturday: Terrarium Class

Come and create your own terrarium from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Greenhouse & Decor, 963 E. Main St. in Galesburg! Cost will be $45 and please be sure to register and pay in advance. Saturday: Lake Story Sock Hop Swing Dance Fundraiser

Let’s turn back the clocks and enjoy an evening of dancing to the best Big Band Music and artist of the Swing Dance Community! Galesburg Park District and Young Dance Inc have partnered again to bring social dancing to the community. Grab your poodle skirts and letterman jackets and let’s dance the night away! We are playing some of the best music from the 20’s all the way to today’s artists.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 10 at the Lake Storey Pavilion. Beginner East Coast Swing class begins at 7 p.m. and the Social Dance is from 7:30-10 pm! Cost is $5 per person, with kids 12 and under bring free! Beverage and snacks will be provided by Young Dance Inc. To purchase tickets click here!
