A building in downtown Lewistown housing both apartments and a business was damaged by fire late Wednesday afternoon.

WEEK-TV reports crews from multiple departments spent four hours at the scene near 200 North Main Street, not far from the Fulton County Courthouse, starting around 4:00 p.m.

Fire Chief John Spotloe said the owner of Now and Again Boutique smelled smoke and called 911.

A fire was found at the back of the business which was eventually able to be put out.

Spotloe says everyone made it out safely, and no one was hurt.

Assistance was being given Wednesday night to the residents of the apartments by the Salvation Army.

No word on damage estimates nor the cause or extent of damage.

An investigation is being led by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
