You can give input on Galesburg’s Cooke Park Tuesday night. Here’s how

A public meeting will be held tonight to gather input on the City of Galesburg’s plans to build a park in the area of the former Cooke Elementary School.

The city is hosting a meeting Tuesday, August 20, in the Learning Connections gymnasium, 849 S. Henderson Street, starting at 6:00 p.m.

The park will be developed on open land at 652 W. 2nd, and plans so far are for a playground, a picnic shelter, restrooms, a walking path, a parking lot, and a trailhead.  At the meeting, architects will present examples of what the park and its amenities may look like.  The architects and the city will take questions and accept feedback.

The project is being funded half through a $500,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant, and half from the City.

The meeting is open to the public.
