Clean-up and an investigation are continuing into an overnight break-in to a popular restaurant on Henderson Street in Galesburg.

A break-in happened around 2:00 a.m. Friday to Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream.

Surveillance video posted to social media by owner Leslie Boynton shows part of a drive-through window being smashed, with a perpetrator getting in through it.

She says both cash registers were taken, video gaming terminals were broken in to, and an ATM was damaged. Cash was taken, along with children’s video game prizes.

Boynton said later Friday, the cash registers were found in dumpsters on Home Boulevard.

Galesburg Police declined to comment, as the scene is still being processed.

But if you might have information to provide, you’re urged to call Galesburg Police (309) 343-9151 or Galesburg-Area Crime Stoppers at (309) 344-0044.

After expecting to be closed the entire day Friday, Boynton says her restaurant will be back up and operating at 4 p.m.
